New week

Saturday morning I got a call at 9am that my cousin was having their baby and by noon I had the cute little bugger in my arms! That's Logan William Boston. My sis and I hung out for a bit but I didn't get anything done.

Sunday, I woke up and had a headache but I still met a friend at her church. I had to come home and pop some Excedrin Migraine again and I was laid out until about 2pm. I got shit done around the house, but I still have a lot to do before the folks come to visit.

Monday- I had a nice walk in the morning and played with iron for a bit. (I did 4 sets chest press, 2 sets lat pulldown, 2 supersets on leg press working legs and calves seperately.)

Today- Great AM and PM walks - one mile each. AM did 3 sets chest press, 2 sets lat pulldown, and I worked the leg press but cut back on the weight since my right knee was bugging me a little bit.

T.G.I.F.

Since I pulled my hamstring, I was still walking, but not riding the bike. I did walk Wednesday morning.

Wednesday night I didn't walk, for several reasons.... I was sore, I got home late, I was pissed, and I just finally decided to give myself the night off. I popped 2 Tylenol PM's, chatted with my wonderful husband online, then went to bed, probably about 10:30pm or so. WELL.... I wake up to my phone ringing Thursday morning and it's work. My co-worker asks me if everything is okay... then I look at the clock. HOLYSHIT it's 8:50am and I was supposed to be at work 20 minutes ago. WOW! I didn't hear my alarm (or maybe I set it wrong), but I have 4 alarms that go off on my phone every morning and I didn't hear any of those either! Despite my calf hurting a little now, my hamstring is feeling a little better.

Last night was a wonderful night. I didn't walk because I had dinner with my family. (two cousins, my cousins wife, my sis, and my Dad) My cousin is due in two weeks and she even had false labor on Saturday (they went to the hospital but were sent home). That was the first time we'd gotten together, outside of a holiday, in a very long time. I'm happy to say they thanked me for pulling us all together. Originally, we were all supposed to go out to dinner with Grandma, but she is working through some depression at age 89. After having a flat tire and not being able to get her hair done, she just told us she wasn't feeling up to it. Maybe I'll get her out to feed the ducks or out to church this weekend.... anything to get her out of the house.

I'm going in to work early today so I can make up time from yesterday. Tonight, I WILL hit the pavement, just as soon as I get home. I have to look HAWT for when my husband comes home in December!

9/23/08

Today started a bit rough-woke up with a migraine; albeit on the minor side. I took Exc Mig caplets and went back to bed with an ice pack for about 30-45 minutes. When I got up, I felt good! woo hoo! So, I ran out the door and managed a 20-minute brisk walk before I had to get ready for work.

I suppose I'll start seeing people at the park on a regular basis. One lady always walks in flip flops and it occurred to me this morning that maybe she has those weird FIT flops things.

Tonight I went for a 30-minute walk and rode the bike for 20-minutes. I had planned on doing more, but my right hamstring hurts. It's been sore today, but it wasn't until I got on the bike that I realized I really pulled that muscle. Hopefully 15 minutes in the jacuzzi and two Tylenol PM will help because I want to take a walk and press weights in the morning.

I had oatmeal for breakfast, 1/2 turkey sandwich (lots of turkey, tortilla, lettuce, tomato) for lunch, salad with grilled chicken strips for dinner, and an apple.

9/22/08 Herein starts two-a-days

This day started, and ended, beautifully! I walked 3 laps around the park this morning, then rode the bike hard for 15 minutes, then did two supersets of chest (weekling) and leg (90 lbs)presses. I even worked my calves. I was still a little tired at work, but worked through it. I had oatmeal for breakfast, and a half sandwich for lunch.

After work, I came straight home. Time for me. I opted to head out as the sun was setting. It was such a perfect night. There were about a dozen people at the park, most with dogs, a few kids. One guy was flying a kite. The breeze was wonderful (esp considering it was about 100 degrees). I walked 30 minutes around the park, then rode 20 minutes on the bike (level 5/5 miles). I was feeling good, but I was freakin' hungry! I ate a large salad with a little shredded cheese and grilled chicken strips.

I was thinking about going to the pool... that was an hour and a half ago. I am T.I.R.E.D.!

My first goal this week is to work out twice a day tomorrow and Wednesday. Thursday night I am going to dinner with the family. Friday my sister is in town. If she decides to go out with her girlfriends, then I have a wine party to go to!

My second goal this week is to work out this weekend.... and get a massage!

9/18/08

There were more people out this morning. I did an extra lap around the park and I got to ride the bike in peace this morning.

I have been tired today. I guess I just need to be patient over the next few weeks while my body adjusts to consistent (daily) workouts.

today I ate:
Eggbeaters w/ salsa
salad
Fiber One bar
chicken sausage with side of broccoli w/ low fat cheese sauce
a few cherry yogurt covered pretzels

still need to drink more water.

9/17/08

I was up waaay too late last night (my fault), so of course I slept in and had less time to workout today (again). I walked two laps around the park and got back to the gym to ride the bike hard and fast for 15 minutes. But I did it damnit!

But, why oh why did some fecktard have to come in to the weight room and have to fuckn grunt and heave while pushing weights then cough up multiple loogies and make all sorts of unnerving sounds while coughing up said loogies at 7 in the AM? That's enough motivation to make me want to get to bed at a decent time and get going EARLY tomorrow!

Today I ate:
banana
(fake)eggs
apple
5oz apricot chicken salad
handful of rice crackers
big salad with a little chicken, shredded cheese, tomatoes, and cilantro dressing
I still need to drink more water.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

9/16/08

I'm feeling great today!

It was a BEAUTIFUL morning! I went for a walk this morning and it was "only" in the high 70's. Then I went to the gym and rode the bike. I did have to cut it short though since I was up talking to my husband too late last night. I got up late, so of course I had to get home and get ready for work so I could be there by.... well, 8:32am anyways!

I'm not going to lie though, it was tough this morning. I felt rushed, so I did walk a little faster and bike a little harder. All in all, I had a ton of energy this morning. I didn't eat much, not even for lunch, but I drank a lot of water. My energy crashed this afternoon, though, so I know I'll need to be more aware about eating a good breakfast. Even if it's just a good bowl of oatmeal.

9/15/08

I woke up around 5:30am to go to the gym, but ALAS - another Migraine. damndamndamn I hate migraines. I ran out of ExcedrinMigraine so I popped a scrip and those knock me on my arse. I tried to get up at 7am, but I got nauseous. So, I called work and crawled back in bed. I finally got up and went to work mid-day, but I always feel so drugged up after I take a scrip. So, I decided I'd chill tonight and get up tomorrow morning at 5:30am and go for it. Good thing (sorta) is, I swapped schedules with my co-worker, so I don't have to be to work until 8:30am.

In the meantime, I stopped off at Trader Joe's on the way home, but they were out of their yummy egg salad. So, I bought a dozen eggs and I'll make my own tomorrow. I had very little to eat today, so I got a chicken fajita bowl at Chipotle and only ate half for dinner.

I will be following a plan of eating 5 smaller meals throughout the day. I'm not a calorie counter. This is a life-style change, not a diet. I will still have a bowl of ice cream, or that chocolate bar, or that latte. But I'm also eating more veggies, eating less meat, more tuna, more protein, cutting the carbs a little, more fiber, and exercising more. I believe exercise will be the key to my success. I don't want to be a couch potato anymore.

9/14/08

Today was a great day at the gym! I went for a 15 minute walk around the park across the street. Great warmup. Then I rode the excercise bike for 30 minutes on level 5 on the fat-burning mode. I then started on the treadmill but stopped after a few minutes... it just felt weird/forced. I liked walking in the park for real - no handles to hold on to. Although I've been swimming from time to time, I haven't been to the weight room in awhile. So today was basically waking up the muscles again. I did 3 sets on the chest press, lat pull down, leg press, quadriceps, and 5 lb. free weights to work my triceps. I'm planning on either going to swim some laps tonight or go back to the gym for a short follow-up session. I think the swimming will be good for my muscles. Then, I'll hit it again tomorrow morning. I'm getting up early in hopes to "pump it up" around 5:30am.

Be better today, then I was yesterday, so I can be at my best for tomorrow.
